Why would I need bow sights on a crossbow for? Bow sights are needed to help you aim your arrow. Without this sight, you could be aiming blind and not hitting what you want to hit with your arrows. It is suggested that you have bow sights on your crossbow to help your aim and to help you to sight the exact distance that you would be away from either a target or an animal on the hunt. When hunting you don’t get second chances very often, so a sight is the best thing for your bow. When aiming by eye only, your eyes can get fooled and you can miss a shot that could be vital to bringing down dinner or stopping trouble. So bow sights are a focusing agent? Yes, bow sights are a focusing agent. It is mainly there to help you to focus on the target and have a steady aim. As stated before, not having bow sights just compounds the problem of steady aim. These aids do not cost that much and they are not even that heavy. There really is no reason why you should not have one of these on your crossbow. They serve the same purpose as a sight does on a gun. That is to steady your aim. Nothing more, nothing less is what a sight’s purpose truly is. These are worth their weight in gold when trying to bring down that game, or drive it off. How heavy are these bow sights? Some of the more heavy duty bow sights are no more than a pound. The majority of these bow sights are less than 8 ounces. The weight addition to a bow is really insignificant. So if you are worried about weighing your bow down, you don’t need to worry. These are lightweight sights that can mount on the side of your bow to give you maximum viewing power. These also help you to focus your sight on either the target that you want to hit, or the prey that you want to bring down. Either way, this is a helpful tool for improving your aim or seeing the results of that improved sight. This is indeed one useful tool for your bow or compound bow. Sounds like I really missed the boat about bow sights! I am afraid you did, my friend! These sights are an aid to sight and really nothing to be afraid of. I can understand why you wouldn’t want to use one of these things, but in the long run, you will be better off by using one on your crossbow or compound bow. It does help you find the range much easier. You can do it without using a sight on your bow, but why would you want to do that! Make it easy on yourself. Purchase a sight for that bow and get out and hunt with the big dogs. See what you bring home as a reward. Published at: https://www.isnare.com/?aid=298678&ca=Sports
In underdeveloped countries, inadequate nutrition is the main cause of blindness. Vitamins are antioxidants that keep our body including our eyes healthy. Vitamins A, C, and E have all been shown to be important in eyehealth. There is increasing evidence that many fresh foods such as fruits, vegetables and fish contains components which are important for eye health. Vitamin A Most mothers will tell their children to finish their carrots as it is good for the eyes. Carrots are loaded with Vitamin A. One carrot contains double the USA. recommended daily allowance of Vitamin A. This vitamin is critical in preventing many diseases connected with eyesight. Most importantly it prevents night blindness. Vitamin A deficiency also leads to xerophthalmia, dryness in the eyes, corneal ulcers and swollen eyelids. All these can lead to blindness. Vitamin A is also important as people age, as it prevents cataracts from forming and helps in preventing blindness from macular degeneration. The recommended intake for males is 1000 retinal equivalents (RE) while females need about 800 RE per day, if you feel you are not meeting this with your diet then you may wish to consider an eye health supplement. It is important to read labels if taking Vitamin A eye health supplements as is can be toxic if large amounts area taken. This is also particularly important when you are pregnant as excess Vitamins A can cause birth defects. Most red, yellow or orange foods contain beta-carotene. The body converts beta-carotene into Vitamin A. Along with carrots, fruits like cantaloupe, mango, vegetables like pumpkin, red pepper, papaya and mango are excellent sources of beta-carotene. Vitamin A is also found in spinach and other green leafy vegetables, sweet potato, fish, especially cod liver oil and chicken or meat liver. Vitamin C Vitamin C is often called a superhero and is certainly a key ingredient in any eye health supplement. It helps in preventing many age-related vision problems such as cataract. This occurs when there is a buildup of protein which eventually clouds the vision. Vitamins C may also help in delaying age-related macular degeneration which has no cure. A survey showed that if the onset of cataracts could be delayed by ten years, then related operations could be avoided. This is because most cataracts set in as people get older and surgeries are usually done above the age of 65 or 70 meaning that if they are delayed by ten years, cataract will not develop in the person’s lifetime. Vitamin C is found in all citrus fruits, guava, strawberries, cantaloupe, grapefruit, raspberries, tomatoes, plums, green leafy vegetables, red and green peppers, papaya, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, grapes, potatoes, spinach kiwifruit and cranberries. In fact most fruit and vegetable sources contain some Vitamin C. It can also be found in some animal sources but cooking destroys Vitamin C. The USA recommended allowance for Vitamin C in both males and females is 60 milligrams per day. The human body cannot synthesize this vitamin nor does it stay in the body for long. Factors like smoking, pollution, diabetes and other problems affect its absorption. Processing destroys Vitamin C so it is best to eat fresh fruits and vegetables to get the maximum benefits. Vitamin E Vitamin E also helps in preventing cataracts and macular degeneration and optimizing eye health. The USA recommended daily allowance is 10 mg for males and 8 mg for females. This is found in all nuts, legumes and some fruits like mango, again if dietary intake is not adequate then an eye health supplement may be a good idea. Research has shown that bioflavonoids also act as important antioxidants and they help us to absorb Vitamin C better. These are the compounds that give fruits their color. Lutein and Zeaxanthin, two other antioxidants found naturally in vegetables and fruits also help in eye health. It is also important to consume foods rich in essential fatty acids and minerals for better eyesight. All in all, it would be best to increase the daily fruit and vegetable intake to keep those peepers in good shape, if this kind of food doesn’t tickle you fancy then it may be worth considering an eye health supplement. What’s black and white and read all over? A newsletter of course! And while there are perhaps hundreds of ways to market your business and increase your bottom line, one of the singlemost effective tools in marketing is your own business-building newsletter. The Power of Newsletters: Newsletters show the customer you care – even when you can’t be there. Newsletters answer basic wants and needs, which leads to word of mouth referrals and greater loyalty – something your competitors can’t buy. Newsletters reinforce your message. Great newsletters get read and saved by decision makers. The more your readers see your name, the more inclined they are to refer you, hire you, and buy from you. Great newsletters establish you as their personal expert, someone they trust. Great newsletters can make even a “small” company look big. It builds your image. Your newsletter can help “qualify” a prospect. They can read it and learn about your product and services, cutting their buying curve. Before you begin your newsletter, decide… The purpose or objective in publishing your newsletter. Is it to educate and improve the personal and professional lives of your readers? Is it to market and position your company as the resource for answers to their problems? Who is your target audience? How often will you publish? A monthly newsletter keeps your company on the top of your customer’s and prospect’s minds. What type of newsletter is ideal for your readers? Paper publications have a longer life span; they create a strong impression in the customer’s mind, however they are costly to produce. Ezines can use basically the same format, are easy to read and are convenient for the reader to reply to. The downside is that they can be deleted too quickly (even before it is ever read). And many ezines I’ve read are filled with self-promotion and are basically a waste of time. What is your budget? Can you afford a four color or two/three color printed piece, or do you go for simple black and white? Simple can be better; as long as it is a professionally presented newsletter your readers will respond to. How long will it be? When you first start producing, focus on a one to four page newsletter to produce. Who gets it? You can send your message to a small or large group. You get to decide who gets it. This form of direct communication filled with information the reader can use creates a bond that is difficult to achieve through other forms of mass marketing. If you don’t enjoy writing, you could interview others for ideas, or invite others in your industry (those not in direct competition) to write guest articles. You could also purchase industry specific newsletters with your message and promotional info on them. Nearly every major industry has this service. Check with your associations for a referral. Remember that your newsletter is an extension of you and your company. The image it conveys is the image your readers will remember. Be consistent. If you publish and send monthly, then publish and send monthly. Maybe it’s time to increase your visibility with newsletters. Write-on! Most people would really like it if they had the ability to pick up a sheet of music and know how to sing the notes accurately without hearing them demonstrated first. But we are typically given the impression, usually by musicians, that you must be a musician in order to learn sight singing. They tell us that you need some background in music theory or playing an instrument before you can really understand sight singing. I would beg to differ. Sight singing seems intimidating because it’s basically learning a new language. But as challenging as that metaphor seems, if a language had only twelve words, as music does, it would be far easier to learn. Here are three shortcuts that enable a person to learn the skills of sight singing without having any background in music. The scale is the key (pun intended). Rather than trying to figure out which notes are sharped or flatted, you can just realize that the lines and spaces of the music staff correspond to the notes of a major scale. If you can sing a major scale (think “Joy to the World” or “The First Noel”), you can learn to sight-sing. All you need to do is to locate the starting note of the scale on the staff. There are some simple rules for that. Then the lines and spaces around it are all scale notes. Another imaginary obstacle to sight singing that makes it seem exclusive to musicians is the clef sign. This is the symbol at the beginning of each line of music that tells which notes the lines and spaces correspond to. But the good news is that we can totally ignore the clef sign (in almost all cases). We can use the key signature, that little collection of sharps or flats at the beginning of the line, to identify the starting note of the scale. Then the other notes fall into place around it, as explained above. A third imaginary hurdle to learning sight singing is the presence of accidentals in the music. There are so many different accidental signs; how can you keep them all straight? Actually, there are five different signs (sharps, flats, naturals, double sharps, and double flats) but only two functions. An accidental either raises a scale note by a semitone (the smallest interval), or it lowers a scale note by a semitone. So which ones do what? It’s really pretty easy. Sharps and double-sharps always raise the scale note. Flats and double-flats always lower it. The confusing one is the natural sign. It can either raise or lower it. But it’s really not that hard because if there are sharps in the key signature, the natural sign lowers the scale note. As you can probably guess, if there are flats in the key signature, the natural sign raises the scale note. Now that you have shortcuts around the three big obstacles to sight singing, the key, the clef, and accidentals, there’s nothing (other than practice) to keep you from becoming as good of a sight-singer as you want to be, even if you don’t know anything about music theory. In 1876, a windmill was built in Sussex. This act in itself isn’t particularly unusual (quite a few windmills were built during the industrial revolution), but the story of the windmill after that tells of how Sussex has retained one of its most beautiful buildings. Visiting the windmill isn’t the same if you don’t know why it’s still standing there, and the efforts that have been taken to make sure that people for years to come can see it.
It was originally built by a millwright who had set up other mills in the area, Steven Neve. He used a local bricklayer, Thomas Honeysett, to build the tower, and even the equipment to get it running was local, brought from the Phoenix Iron Foundry in Lewes. It was used to grind wheat into flour, as windmills at the time were wont to do, and it operated without incident all the way from 1876 to 1925, just shy of fifty years. In 1925, however, two of the sails got blown off, but the mill continued to operate on wind power until 1937.
In 1937, Stone Cross stopped being used as a mill and was instead used as an observation post for the duration of the Second World War. It provided an excellent vantage point for viewing the sky and the land all around, mostly due to its height, necessary for it to operate properly as a windmill.
Once the war ended it stopped being used as an observation post, but it didn’t go into industrial use and instead fell into disrepair. It wasn’t until the 1960s that somebody saw the potential of the building, and planning permission was granted in 1962 for it to be converted into a residential property. Following this, a Mr. Ron Hall bought the mill, but rather than making use of the planning permission, he instead decided to restore the mill to a working condition.
1966 saw him begin work on the mill, and eleven years later, in 1977, he had managed to repair most of the damage done to it after it stopped being used. The mill was now in a similar state to the one it had been in 1937, with two sails missing, as well as the fansail (a sail which automatically turns the cap of the windmill to face the wind) at the back. Unfortunately, this is as good as it got for Mr. Hall’s solo efforts, and in the 1990s the mill was, once again, falling into disrepair. Luckily, a trust was formed with the purpose of buying and restoring the windmill. The trust became a registered charity in 1996 and began restoration works in 1998. By 2000, the mill could produce flour again, and the achievements of the trust have been recognised by the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings.
Due to the efforts of all these people, the mill now acts as a visitor attraction, with its tall, white tower and fully repaired sails. It’s one of the few operating windmills in England, and so is definitely worth visiting if you’re in Sussex.
